Japanese to the World

Huge cabbages are harvested in Hokkaido.

It’s getting colder these days, and the delicious winter dishes with vegetables are coming up.

According to FNN prime online, a supermarket in Hokkaido claim to have oversized vegetables this season.

These cabbage have about 50 cm in diameter.

The poster used these for pickeed herrings.

According to the farmer, making these cabbages is ‘very difficult’.

Although having very big impact, consumers say that “if we purchase these huge cabbages, nothing else will fit in the cart or car”.

The price is about 1000 Yen, or 10 Dollars.

The strain is named “Sapporo Oodama”, which literally means “big ones from Sapporo”.

I wonder if they are as delicious as they are big.
